Work Experience

Michaelides Warner & Co – Hammersmith, London, UK

October 2002 – February 2004

During my time here I was responsible for day to day bookkeeping right through to the production of end of year accounts for a number of small to medium sized firms, ranging from children’s clothing companies to the legal advisor of Chelsea Football Club.

My responsibilities also included calculating and submitting VAT returns, VAT registration, monthly trial balances and reconciliations, company secretarial duties, corporation tax calculations and auditing year end accounts.

On a monthly basis I prepared the sales ledger for Michaelides Warner & Co, with spreadsheets showing comparisons to previous months and year, manual checking of bankings received to Sage reports.

I was responsible for the relationship between the factoring company – Royal Bank of Scotland – and Michaelides Warner, ensuring their sales ledger matched our sales ledger, and investigating any discrepancies.  I generated a monthly debtors listing which was then used to contact clients for outstanding payments.

PKB – Crowthorne, Berkshire, UK

August 1998 - September 2002

From client’s books and records I would prepare a set of manual working papers, with bank reconciliations, debtor and creditor reconciliations and listings.  I calculated the depreciation and confirmed the fixed assets schedules.  Once the working papers had been reviewed I would then enter the year end accounts onto our accountancy package and calculate the tax liability.  The final accounts would then be passed to the partner in charge.

I was also responsible for both manual and computerized bookkeeping for a number of clients with monthly reconciliations.  I would prepare the quarterly VAT calculation and return for these clients.

I attended several onsite audits and stock takes for a variety of clients.
